Well...the only news is bad news, I guess. I finally got my last rejection letter (of the ones I sent out, anyway). This one was from a company called All About Kids Publishing and I actually sent them an entire manuscript. This showed up at my old apartment, so I'm not sure what day it came, but it was dated September 28th. Here goes:

Dear Kingsley,

Thank you for your recent submission to All About Kids Publishing. However, due to the overwhelming response from the wonderful authors out there, we will not be accepting any more submissions until after March 31, 2003. Please feel free to resubmit after that date.

Sincerely,

Linda L. Guevara

Not bad, I guess. They're not saying my work sucks or that I shouldn't bother, but rather that they're full up on manuscripts. Oh well, I should expect as much. It's getting toward the end of the year and I'm sure a lot of these publishing houses have accquired their titles for the year.

The plan still stands. I'll finish Book Two in the next couple of weeks (I'm off schedule because of the move) and let it sit a while while I research and market the bejesus out of Book One. Hopefully sometime by the end of the year, I'll have a solid draft of Book Two done and I'll be well on my way to working on some new project. Methinks I'll give Travis a break until late next year or so.

Then again, I said that last year and now I'm almost done with another whole book about the lil' punk. Who knew?
